KINDERGROEP

holweg@emirates.net.ae of 0504436339.

Indien daar enige volwassenes is wat ook by die kindergroep betrokke wil raak, kontak my seblief.

Rugby in Abu Dhabi

Hy is Dubai gestasioneer.

Daar heers ‘n aangename atmosfeer by die oefeninge.

From our Investment Guy!

WHY INVEST?             .       TO STAY AHEAD OF INFLATION

.         TO MEET SPECIFIC FINANCIAL GOALS

.         TO PROVIDE FOR RETIREMENT

When you take a careful look at your financial goals, your responsibilities and your plans for the future, you may well realise that investing isn’t an option-but an absolute necessity.

However, the idea of investing money can be a daunting one, especially when you’re not familiar with the world of financial markets.  But the principles of investment are, in fact, quite easy to understand.

If you’ve ever moved money from a Current Account to a Savings Account in order to earn interest, you’ve already made an investment.  Investment simply means taking advantage of the various financial products available that can help to make your money grow.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CAREFUL PLANNING

Before investing your money, you must have a clear idea of your investment objectives (What are you saving for and when do you want it ?).  Few people do this. Most Financial Advisors have a confidential Investor Profile Questionnaire, which will help you decide on this.  It is very important that you think about what savings you have now, and what you’re saving for.  It only takes a few minutes to complete, but you’ll find it extremely useful in helping to clarify your investment objectives and your long and short-term financial needs.  Based on your answers, be assured that there will be investments out there that will help you reach your investment goals.

SIX TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL INVESTING

Identify your Financial Goals

-

What are you trying to achieve?

Set your Time Horizons

-

How long can you keep your money invested?

Diversify

-

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.  Spread your money between different types of investment.

Understand Risk

-

Make sure you know how much risk associated with the type of investment you choose.

Look beyond the Short Term

-

The value of many investments can rise and fall on a daily basis. Don’t panic if an investment temporarily falls; sometimes this can provide an opportunity to invest more money while a market offers good value.

Take Advantage of Professional Help

-

If you have any questions about investing, Speak to your financial advisor or Bank or Central bank for a list of Financial Planning Brokerages..

 WHAT ARE YOUR INVESTMENT OPTIONS?

Last newsletter I spoke about the various asset classes that one could invest in, well lets have a look at them .They are:

Cash – Bonds – Equities – Property – Commodities – Collectable’s. ( THAT'S IT GUYS – only six vehicles).

Let me deal with the first three in this news letter ( I  don’t want to waffle on).

CASH- For Liquidity and Ease of Access

Every investor should hold a certain amount of cash in his Portfolio in case of a sudden emergency, simple though this sound it’s worth shopping around for the highest possible interest rate.  Consider this - after putting US $1,000 away each month for 10 years at a 6% interest rate you would have US$16,630 more than you would if the same amount had earned only 4% interest.  That’s a big difference!

Definition of cash - Cash is a means of exchange and a store of value. The only reason you need to make money is to buy goods and services. So inflation has to be our benchmark for performance.

BONDS-For a Degree of Security

Bonds are fixed-interest securities issued by Governments, Institutions and Companies all over the world as a means of borrowing money from investors for a set period of time.  During the life of the Bond, the investor receives annual or semi annual interest payments.  The rate of interest is determined at the time the Bond is issued and remains constant throughout the life of the Bond.

Bond prices can still fluctuate, though, because Bonds can be traded on the open market in the same way as shares.  This means that investors in Bonds can enjoy capital growth as well as interest income.

EQUITIES - for Higher Potential Returns

Equities are perhaps the best known form of investment.  They are also known as Shares, because they are, literally, a share of ownership in the company that issues them.  For this reason prices tend to increase or decrease according to the profitability, assets and prospects of the issuing company.

Although they offer the potential for higher returns than Bonds or Cash, Equities are also associated with correspondingly higher degree of risk.  They should therefor generally be considered as a longer-term investment.

UNDERSTANDING RISK

Every investment involves some degree of risk.  In real terms, you can even lose money by putting your savings in a Bank Deposit Account if the interest you earn doesn’t keep pace with the rate of inflation.

One of the basic principles of investment is that risk and reward are closely related.  So before you decide how to invest your money, consider how you feel about risk.  Whilst we’d all like a high return, we can’t always accept a correspondingly high risk.  By analysing your financial situation and future needs, you’ll be able to assess how much risk you can afford to take - and a confidential Questionnaire can help you with this.  But your attitude to risk is also important.  Choose investments that you can live comfortably with.
