A very
special welcome to all the new South Africans here in the UAE. We hope
you will be happy here and that all your expectations are exceeded !
If you know of any other new South Africans please forward this newsletter
to them. Newcomers
Are you new in Abu Dhabi and still trying to find your way? There's a comprehensive book on the market on what the city has to offer. It's called "Abu Dhabi Discover". Or if you would like to meet other South African's, you could try visiting one of these churches: The Evangelical Community Church is located opposite the British School Al Khubairat. You will recognize the church by the blue pots in front. There are two Services. The morning service starts at 8:45am in the upper chapel. At the same time there is Friday School (Sunday School) for the children while the parents attend the morning service. Then there is the 10:15am service in the lower chapel with a separate program organized for the kids. There are also many other activities such as Ladies Bible study, Youth groups, Singles groups etc. For more information you can visit their website at www.eccad.org or phone the church office at 446 4563. Another church is the St Andrew's Church (Anglican) which is located between the British School Al Khubairat and the big Mosque. They have two services namely Sunday mornings at 10:00am (including a children's service) and then at 6:00pm (including Sunday School). There is also a children's program called the Alpha course, which is presented on Friday mornings at 10:30am. For more information contact the church office at 446 1631 or email standrew@emirates.net.ae.

A great big welcome back to you all, I trust that you have had the opportunity of spending time with loved ones back home, sorted out the building problems, got the kids set into School or University, visited all the friends and family, took the dog to the vet, renewed your post box license and now returned to Abu Dhabi for a holiday!! - And a well deserved break - phew. You wonder if it is a break when we go home hey, anyway it is nice to have you back, please contribute to the newsletter and tell Hannelie all about yourself, your family etc. If you are a new comer to the UAE a double welcome, may your stay be a memorable and rewarding occasion. For the benefit of all the new folk I would like to re-emphasize the basic critical steps that should be taken by all new comers to the UAE regardless to which country you come from Before you get roped into all sorts of promises from all sorts of consultants, and after you have settled down with the basic things like Visas, Health cards, Mobile phone problems, Local Bank Account etc, do yourself a favor and think about the following. The basic steps are: Open an offshore bank account - Offshore is not UAE? 1. Build
up at least 3 to 6 months salary in your bank account - Emergency money This is easier said than done, the question is - how do we do it? 1. Identify
your financial Goal: - What are you trying to achieve? I hope that this will act as a guide for you that are new and for the oldies that have perhaps bumped their heads already. The current world economic climate has rotated over the past few months; we have seen Major Currency changes; we have experienced wars in almost every continent but the world carries on, and companies carry on - thank God for that or else we would be without work. The markets are up, there are some great products out there, but Buyer bewares!!! You can still lose money. Future
