News from the Embassy

  SOUTH AFRICAN EMBASSY

PO Box 29446, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

                                                                                    Date: 09 February 2003

Dear fellow South Africans,

The Embassy continues to receive several enquiries from concerned South African nationals regarding the security situation in the United Arab Emirates, in light of a looming United States of America’s led military offensive against the Republic of Iraq.

The Embassy takes the security situation in the UAE and by extension the security of South African nationals resident here very seriously. The Embassy is closely following the developments related to Iraq in particular, and the Gulf region in general, in order to have a better understanding of the situation.

At this moment, the Embassy does not believe that there is any specific security threat against South African nationals in the UAE. The Government of South Africa through the Department of Foreign Affairs will issue a formal travel advisory as and when this is necessitated by security concerns related to the possible military offensive against Iraq. In such an event, an advisory will be distributed to all South Africans registered with the Embassy and advise on what further action, if any, needs to be taken.

Warm regards,

The Ambassador

Hello Fellow South African’s,

A warm welcome to all the new people in Abu Dhabi. The SA group database is growing by the day.  We have received 62 new e-mail addresses in the past month.  We have around 600 e-mail addresses on our database.

We know there are still many South African's out there that do not know about the SA group and newsletter.  You can help us grow by forward this newsletter to all your friends.

The SA group is there for you and without you and your help we cannot have this newsletter, so please make use of this free advertisement and let us know about that car you want to sell or that bargain around the corner.  Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
